Stud Finder
Stud finders are a very popular tool as locating a joist or a stud is very useful when fixing items to walls or ceilings. The problem is that many of these so called stud finders cannot locate studs accurately and some do not even work at all. Here we demonstrate how to find a joist using a neodymium magnet. This allows the user to find the heads of the screws or nails that are holding the plasterboard to the stud or joist, which makes it immediately obvious where the stud or joist is.
